LEWISTON — They’re masters of the art world.

Pablo Picasso. Henri Matisse. Paul Gauguin. Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn.

And starting this week, a Bates College’s Museum of Art exhibit will showcase their works — and more — for free.

“Some of the works have not been shown collectively before,” curator Bill Low said. “We’re excited to be able to show these groups of works together.”

From Jan. 15 through March 27, the museum will host Collection Project 4: Selections From Alumni Collections, an exhibit of 50 to 60 significant paintings, sketches, photographs and other works of art that have been donated to the college by alumni or purchased by the college with alumni donations.
